Interested boaters may be admitted as members into Bay City Yacht Club through the following process:

• An application for membership must be completed.
• A current member must sign this application as a sponsor.
• All applicable fees must be submitted with the application.
• The Board of Directors must give final approval to the membership.

On receipt of the application and fees, the membership number is assigned. Upon the Board of Directors (BOD) approval, the membership is listed as "Tentative Approval" in the club newsletter, Anchor Lines. The Board again reviews the application at the following monthly BOD meeting, at which time a vote is taken to consider final approval for membership. Note: The applicant must attend at least one Board of Directors meeting before final approval is given for membership. The BOD meets monthly on the second Tuesday.

The one-time initiation fee is $775. Annual membership dues are currently $400. This total sum of $1175 must be submitted with each new application. Mooring fees are an additional cost which must be paid once a boat is stored or docked at the club. These annual fees typically range from $500 - $1000 depending on the size of the boat. Slip assignments are made by the Fleet Captain based on membership number, boat size and slip availability. At times there is a waiting list for a slip assignment.

It is a requirement of Bay City Yacht club that all owners of the boat which is docked at BCYC be members of the club. If the boat owners are husband and wife, they are members under one membership number. Therefore, a copy of the boat registration is required at the time a request for a slip assignment is made. Each boat on club property must carry $300,000 liability insurance.

BCYC is supported by its members. Each membership number is required to work 10 hours per year on approved club projects. There is a charge of $35 for each unworked hour.
